U.K. May Be Starved of Some Chemicals Without EU Rules Accord

Britain’s access to a full spectrum of chemicals after Brexit could be at risk unless safety data and regulations remain aligned with the European Union, an executive at the world’s largest chemical maker said.

Problems could arise if “salt-and-pepper” chemicals -- which are used in small amounts but significantly impact the performance of products such as coatings and pigments -- become uneconomic to produce, Neil Hollis, BASF SE’s regulatory affairs manager, told a panel of U.K. lawmakers Wednesday.
