President-elect Joe Biden on Thursday will unveil a $1.9 trillion Covid-19 relief package, setting up his first legislative test in the face of a split U.S. Senate and a deteriorating economy. New York state reported more than 200 daily Covid-19 deaths for the first time since May. The state’s hospitalizations are mounting even as much of the Northeast has started to get a reprieve.

Florida also reported over 200 deaths, the most in one day since August. Ohio, facing a shortage of vaccines, is phasing out inoculations by age group, while an outbreak at new In-N-Out Burger restaurants in Colorado worsened.
