Funny Or Die, a 14-year-old attempt by Will Ferrell and other stars to bring comedy into the social-media age, will be sold to philanthropist Henry R. Munoz III for an undisclosed sum.

Munoz is acquiring the Funny Or Die brand, library and social-media accounts, which have more than 40 million followers. The move follows the loss of several key executives and employees to Roku Inc., which forged an agreement in March to create a Funny Or Die branded-entertainment division.
