Four Explorers Club Members Relive Their Favorite Travel Memories

When the Explorers Club announced its inaugural E50 list in February, it gave new visibility to a diverse group of field scientists whose trailblazing work may change the way we all see the world. What we discovered when we spoke to some of them was that their endless pursuit of knowledge—often resulting in expeditions at the remotest ends of the Earth—has armed them with some pretty remarkable stories as well. While their adventures are far from conventional, they offer prescient reminders of why we travel.
