A senior Democratic lawmaker renewed her call for the Department of Homeland Security’s watchdog to “step away” from investigating the loss of Secret Service text messages around the attack on the US Capitol, saying he bungled the probe.

Representative Carolyn Maloney, chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, said she was troubled by new revelations about DHS Inspector General Joseph Cuffari’s handling of the matter.
