Britain is being hit by regular strikes across its transport network as unions battle for pay hikes that keep pace with soaring prices.

Rail workers have held a series of walkouts since June, including three consecutive days of industrial action in August. With the UK suffering from double-digit inflation, labor groups argue their members should not have to stomach real-terms pay cuts. They are also wary of plans to adjust headcount and working patterns to reflect changes in travel habits following the Covid-19 pandemic.
