A Tribute to John Authers with NLP Natural Language Processing methods can bring considerable insights for economists and investment strategists. Here is one example. I receive dozens of newsletters and content updates from various macro / financial sources and content providers in my mailbox. One of my favourite readings I must say is Bloomberg Senior Editor and Columnist John Authers I read his newsletter "Points of Return" (https://lnkd.in/ez4zMAyT) whenever I have some time. So, I wanted to know how John's focus on different topics evolved over the last three years, from the time I first subscribed to the newsletter in June 2020. For more clarity, I averaged the resulting topic distribution on a weekly basis. You can see below the result. It is striking to see how monetary policy and the Fed's fight against inflation came to largely dominate the newsletter. In contrast, China and the Pandemic receded almost in tandem. Politics come back from time to time as can be seen from the pink color patches. But overall, John is still very much focused on inflation ... as is the Fed. 😀. #nlp #investmentresearch #globalmacro

Hi. This is insightful. Been reading John Authors for a long time. Is there publicly available tool that can be used for other documents or columns?
