RIP Henry Kissinger. I first met Secretary Kissinger in 1975 on the campus of Georgetown University. He was a guest lecturer. I remember his message to the class -- always stop the fighting---then make small strides to peace with a sense of justice. Many decades later, when I was appointed to the Board of Directors of American Express, I was fortunate to work alongside Henry, who served on the board from 1984-2005 and had since served as Advisor to the Board. I consider it the honor of a lifetime to have spent so much time with him over the previous 13 years. We would speak, of course, about world affairs, but also of family, of friends and of sports. He felt that sports had the ability to play an integral role as a healer around the world. Secretary Kissinger was a diplomat, a businessman, and a scholar. And I'm honored to also say he was my friend. I will miss him dearly. RIP.

Dr. Kissinger leaves a legacy of strategic insights and accomplishments. For instance, Dr. Kissinger won a Nobel Peace Prize for his thought-provoking strategy to negotiate a settlement to end the Vietnam War. Undoubtedly, Dr. Kissinger was among the most influential American governmental officials in history. More specifically. Dr. Kissinger advised or counseled many Presidents and Secretary’s with his vast geopolitical acumens, keens sense of knowledge and political awareness. Finally, and most recently, Dr. Kissinger co-wrote a book on Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Kissinger's futuristic outlook and foreboding regarding Artificial Intelligence raises worthwhile and more meaningful issues to forge ahead, in spite of some hesitancy. Overall, Dr. Kissinger sought dialogue, as a means to provide a groundwork for debate, amongst the most compelling issues of our time.

I admired his work for decades, even as high school kid. He amazed me with his ability to see past the situation, to meet the needs and true desires of both sides of a situation. A man of significant influence maybe gone but his effect on the world lives on.

I wonder how all the folks who lost family members because of his violent policies feel about him. Maybe not quite the man you remember, Ted.
